CDC Released Update Regarding Autism Prevalence to 1 in 59 Children #autism #autismdiet

CDC released update regarding Autism prevalence to 1 in 59 children

By Kristin Selby Gonzalez,
President, Autism Hope Alliance

Reported by CDC today:

About 1 in 59 eight year-old children in 11 communities across the United States  were identified as having Autism in 2014, according to a report published today in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Surveillance Summary*

That is a 15% increase in 2 years. More HELP is needed than ever before.

What number does it have to be before the U.S. notices the problem? Think about when most of us where children, how many people did you know with Autism in your childhood? Did you even know the word Autism? We must start demanding more research and funding for our families. What will happen when these children all become adults? Who will take care of them?

If you received a 15% increase in your salary you would be jumping up and down, as that is a HUGE increase. However, the CDC casually says in their report, “slightly higher.”

A huge fear for most families is what will happen to their children when they are no longer here to help provide for them. Do we realize what this world is soon to look like
with these numbers continuing to increase? Why is it so  easy for many that don’t have a child diagnosed with Autism to just turn the other way?

We must come together and make our voices heard. For many of our children we are their ONLY voice. We can’t stay silent any longer. We here at the Autism Hope Alliance
will continue to believe in our children and their future. If you want to join our mission of helping families TODAY,  please visit https://autismhopealliance.org/#donate

If you are looking for resources to learn ways to help your family please visit: www.autismhopesummit.com

We at AHA know that this journey is not easy. WE WILL NOT  GIVE UP ON OUR CHILDREN. This quote seemed to be a perfect fit for today:

“It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down. All that matters is you get up one more time than you were knocked down.” –Roy T. Bennett

Get to Know Applegate! #autism #autismdiet

It’s that time again! Let’s get your week started out right and Get to Know Applegate!  Here at Autism Hope Alliance (AHA), we would not be where we are without the incredible support of our amazing partners. In this series, we check in with some of our partners to bring you their latest news, as well as ask some frequently asked questions.

We love Applegate. Just ask our AHA President, Kristin. Her kiddo Jaxson loves their hot dogs and just about everything else! At Applegate, they are committed to changing the meat we eat. All natural and organic. No antibiotics, growth hormones, artificial ingredients or chemical nitrites. Humanely raised, and gluten-free options.

Founded in 1987, we’ve been thrilled to partner with Applegate and wanted to check in with their Manager of Communications and Strategic Relationships, Le-La Cloutier, to learn more about the brand and find out why their products are some of the best on the market.

Get to Know Applegate

AHA: What makes organic and all-natural meat better than conventional meat?

Le-La: From animal living conditions to ingredient statements, organic and natural meats are held to higher standards than conventional meat. Depending on who you ask, natural can also take on a variety of definitions and criteria.  But to Applegate, natural means that we source our meat from farms where animals are raised humanely without antibiotics, hormones or growth promotants. It also means we don’t add chemical nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, artificial ingredients, or preservatives to our products.

AHA: What kind of a diet do your animals eat?

Le-La: Our animals are fed an all-vegetarian or pasture-centered diet… never animal by-products. Our cattle are raised on pasture their entire lives, meaning our beef products are 100 percent grass-fed.

AHA: Are there benefits to eating organic meats?

Le-La: We believe eating organic has benefits for humans, as well as the environment. With organic farming, harmful chemicals and antibiotics are prohibited, which supports efforts to improve soil health and human health. Antibiotic-resistance is an issue Applegate has long supported, and we’re proud to say that we never source meat (natural or organic) from an animal that was administered antibiotics.

AHA: What are some of your products suitable for a gluten-free/dairy-free diet?

Le-La: Hot dogs, chicken nuggets, deli meats, and breakfast sausages are just a few of our products that are gluten-free/dairy-free. Applegate makes more than 65 Autism Approved products so there’s something for everyone! You can find a full list of gluten-free/dairy-free products on our website.

World Autism Day #autism #autismdiet

Today is World Autism Day. ANY of us on this Autism journey know, what keeps us connected is: HOPE.

Meet Jaxson. Jaxson is AHA President, Kristin Selby Gonzalez’s, son. Diagnosed at 2 years old, Kristin was told things by Doctors that no parent should ever have to hear. That Jaxson would never talk, look at her, know the difference from his mother and the chair she was sitting on and other things that made her go numb.

At first, Kristin took the Doctors advice. She went home and grieved the son she had lost. She soon realized that this was not helping her, and especially not helping her son. Kristin decided to roll up her sleeves and begin RESEARCHING. Researching everything she could find out about treating a child with Autism.

She discovered that was not alone. Other parents were in her exact same shoes. Through countless hours of being on the internet, working with Doctors and connecting with other parents, things started to change.

It was a multi-pronged approach that has helped Jaxson do better and better. He saw substantial improvements from the following: Special Diets, Enzyme Therapy, Biomedical Treatments, Nutritional Supplementation, Far Infared Sauna, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Sensory Integration Techniques, Speech Therapy and Cleaning up toxins in his environment.

Now almost 16, Jaxson is showing us all that when you have HOPE, anything is possible!

On this World Autism Day, we invite you for a glimpse into Kristin’s journey with Jaxson. We’re walking together on this path.

How has your family inspired our community? We would love to hear your stories of hope (We will have our campaign, #TalkHope, all month long on our social media pages) in the comments or email mary@autismapproved.org!
